Celebrating the life and soul of the river with incredible events across the capital.

Totally Thames festival is returning in September 2024 with incredible events across the capital celebrating the life and soul of the river.  There are events for everyone to enjoy, including dance, music, film, mudlark events, walks, talks, foreshore clean-ups, Thames cruises and The Great River Race.

Highlights Include:

Great River Race: Sat 21st Sep: 11am - 4pm FREE

  • London's river marathon, with over 1500 people from across the world taking part to raise money for charity. Each year, traditional style boats race each other over the 21.6mile course, with many competitors joining from around the world. 

The Master Shipwright’s House: Sat 21st - Sun 22nd Sep  Ticketed £25

  • Totally Thames festival presents a night of performances in the unique environment of The Master Shipwright’s House in Deptford.

Nadī: Wed 18th - Fri 20th Sep  6pm - 9pm Tickets £15

  • A contemporary dance duet performed by former Rambert dancers, Aishwarya Raut and Antonello Sangirardi.

Thames Day: Sun 22nd Sep 12pm - 4pm FREE 

  • An exciting day of free family activities, Thames Day celebrates World Rivers Day and the significance of the river Thames to the nation's capital city.

Serene Sounds: Sat 21st - Sun 22nd Ticketed £20

  • Transposed presents a harmonious union of soothing sound bath vibrations and the timeless elegance of classical music.

Sing for Water: Sun 15th Sep - Helen Chadwick & Roxane Smith FREE

  • A fabulous mass choir made up of over 500 people from all over the country coming together to sing and raise money for WaterAid.

Mudlark:  4th September  5:30pm - 7pm

  • Artist, Nicola White will take people on a journey of discovery along the River Thames, telling the tales of forgotten people and places through her mudlarking.

Mudlarking Exhibition:  St Paul’s Cathedral on 14th – 15th September.

  • See the personal belongings of medieval Londoners, including items lost by people fleeing across the river from the Great Fire of London.

Boat Festival: 7th – 8th Sep FREE

  • With over 40 beautiful vintage boats, including historic tugs, a Royal Navy vessel and Dunkirk Little Ships amongst others.

One In One Out by Lucy Hayhoe: Thu 5th - Sat 7th Sep 12pm - 6pm

  • A playful and intimate installation that invites audiences to experience a mini queer night out in just five minutes.
