Virginia Overton: Paintings

17 January – 22 February 2025

Opening in January 2025, White Cube Mason’s Yard is pleased to present a solo exhibition by American artist Virginia Overton. In 2024 Overton transformed salvaged materials from the historic, decommissioned Domino Sugar Factory site in Brooklyn, New York, into a wall-based public sculpture now installed within the building. Enamelled steel, hardware and steel off-cuts from this commission have been repurposed and reassembled into a new series of sculptures. Informed by line, form and colour the wall-mounted reliefs featured in this exhibition continue Overton’s exploration of the poetic tensions and inherent ‘otherness’ within her chosen materials.

Alia Ahmad: 28 February – 5 April 2025

An exhibition of new paintings by Alia Ahmad (b.1996, Riyadh) will open at Mason’s Yard in February 2025. White Cube announced global representation of the artist in September 2024.

Ahmad’s vibrant, expressionistic paintings draw inspiration from memories and observations of her native Riyadh; informed by local textiles, poetry, calligraphy, digital graphics and the rich diversity of the surrounding industrialised desert landscape and plant life.

Richard Hunt: 24 April – 29 June 2025

The first London retrospective of work by Richard Hunt (1935–2023), one of the foremost American sculptors of the 20th and 21st centuries, opens at White Cube Bermondsey in April 2025.

Over a seven decade-long career, Hunt staged more than 150 solo shows and completed over 160 large-scale public sculpture commissions worldwide. In 1971, at the age of 35, he achieved a historic milestone as the first African American sculptor to receive a retrospective at New York’s MoMA. Working predominantly in metal, Hunt was profoundly inspired by biological science and the natural world. His hybrid sculptures are characterised by dualities, that of the natural and the industrial, the surreal and the abstract, the geometric and the organic.
