This January Lightbox Gallery & Museum is delighted to welcome visitors for a brand new year of inspiring artwork and crucial community engagement. Since opening in 2007 Lightbox Gallery & Museum has become a leading contemporary gallery, award-winning museum and creative space in the heart of Woking, Surrey, partnering with artists and local communities to present dynamic exhibitions and commissions from diverse artists at all stages of their careers.

The Lounge: Until 19 January 2025
A site-specific installation by multi-disciplinary artist Harold Offeh co-created with the local community to explore the meaning of ‘home’.
Call When You Reach: Until 2 February 2025
2020 Ingram Prize winner Madinah Farhannah Thompson presents a solo exhibition of her recent work, which challenges the pervasive misrepresentation of Black female bodies within Western societies. She aims to disrupt and deconstruct harmful stereotypes that uphold white supremacy, using her art to navigate these limiting narratives.

Textile Time Machine: 18 January 2025, 11:00 AM
Join the Campervan Collective in this drop in hands-on workshop inspired by H G Wells where imagination and fabric collide to bring a unique collaborative time machine to life. All ages welcome and drop in whenever you like on the day between 11am -4pm in the Lounge
Paula Rego: Visions of English Literature: 1 February - 08 June 2025
Experience the work of one of the most extraordinary artists, printmakers and storytellers of our time. Unseen preparatory sketches, etching plates and Rego’s very own childhood copy of Peter Pan will offer audiences an intimate portrayal of the artist's lifelong fascination with literature and insight into how the artist transformed this material into startlingly original and unexpected images.
Matisse: Drawing with Scissors: 8 February - 11 May 2025
Matisse: Drawing with Scissors, a Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition from the Southbank Centre features 35 posthumous prints of the famous cut-outs that he produced in the last four years of his life, when confined to his bed. It includes many of his iconic images, such as The Snail and the Blue Nudes.
These exhibitions will be accompanied by exciting and interactive events, followed by an Andy Warhol exhibition in July and so much more!
Lightbox café
From 1 February, the Lightbox café will reopen under new management and will be working with Orion Hospitality Services, who bring a wealth of catering knowledge and experience, as well as a passion for good food and great service. Come in and sample the delicious new menu, fresh coffee and a variety of sweet treats.
