Looking back at a brilliant year... and ahead to an even more exciting one!
2024 was a dynamic year for all at Chiswick House & Gardens Trust, packed with changes, creativity, and a sense of moving forwards with important new projects.
Commitment to the local Hounslow community was firmly cemented and ongoing connections with the London-based groups and charities we work with, welcoming over 3,300 participants and over 50 groups to the gardens and piloting the developing Schools Programme.
Across the course of the year, visiting groups and schoolchildren took part in an array of gardening, cookery, healthy eating and art-based projects, all designed to boost wellbeing and tackle some of the challenges faced in the borough, including isolation, loneliness and disconnection from nature.
Conservation work continued with the September launch of the Letting the light in project, funded by the Mayor of London's Rewild London initiative, designed to rejuvenate woodland areas and their wildlife.
An exciting line-up of partner events were welcomed to the grounds – including the spectacular Gifford's Circus, who are back this June with their new show Laguna Bay.
Finally, in December, funds were secured to start work on the Creative Campus, a collection of artist studios in underused historic buildings around the Kitchen Garden and the first stage in the creation of our planned Community and Creative Campus.
Chiswick House & Gardens Trust also worked with many groups in the local community including Deaf Women Ealing, The Masbro Elders, Hogarth Youth & Community Centre, Chiswick School and youth engagement group Start Easy and women’s group Trinjan and the Silent Space project.
So what’s next?
