Located round the corner from Bournemouth Airport and full of pine and slogans on chalkboards, The Angel in Longham serves a classic pub menu in the week and slap-up roast dinner on Sundays. You can enjoy your roast in the pretty pub garden, or snuggle up inside by the fireplace with a pint of ale from local Ringwood Brewery. If you can’t decide between their beef, pork or veggie options, you can opt for their ‘Roast of the Day’, which does the choosing for you. The Old Thatch, Wimborne

If you like your Sunday roast experience to feel like a step back in time, this pub on the site of a former 17th century gatehouse is the one for you. With a pub garden which gives you the perfect view of the thatched roof that gives the pub its name, as well as huge servings on every plate, it’s a homely way to enjoy a Sunday roast - but watch out for the ghost that’s rumoured to haunt the pub! The Old Thatch is located near the beautiful minster town of Wimborne, full of independent shops and parks to laze around in on a summer’s afternoon.

Haddon House, Bridport

If you were a fan of ITV’s smash-hit Broadchurch, and find yourself wandering West Bay on a location spotting hunt, where better to stop off for some food than Haddon House in Bridport. A finalist in the Dorset Magazine Food Drink and Farming Awards in 2015, Haddon House is not only perfectly located but also offers a wide range of roasts between midday and 2pm on a Sunday, including beef, pork, lamb, turkey and gammon, for whatever takes your fancy. The Tudor restaurant is just round the corner from the beautiful West Bay sea front meaning you can walk off all those Yorkshire Puddings in the sea air afterwards.

If you like your Sunday roast with a view, pop along to The Mitre in Shaftesbury and look out over the rolling hills as you get your gravy on.
