Mende’s voice transcends borders and as civil war rages in Northern Sudan today she asks us to consider what it is to be free. At the world premiere in 2010 critics showered awards on it, it was performed in the House of Lords won the first Anti-Slavery Award, Best New Play, Best Director, Best Actress and audiences said it was a remarkable night at the theatre that inspired them to make a difference.
