The world-famous five-day festival dubbed ‘Glorious Goodwood’ returns, promising spell-binding sport, social occasion and fantastic hospitality - the social highlight of the flat racing season.

Day by Day Guide

Tuesday 30th July - Goodwood Cup Day: the festival kicks off in style with the historic Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup, the Goodwood Talent in Fashion Award and, after a full day of racing, the popular annual cricket match between Lord March Racing XI and the Lord’s Taveners, set in front of Goodwood House.

Wednesday 31st July - Sussex Stakes Day: the day of the famous ‘Duel On The Downs’ race, the The Qatar Sussex Stakes, which always brings together some of the most outstanding horses in training.

Thu 1st August - Ladies' Day: the perfect opportunity for ladies and gents to show off their finest outfits and enjoy a beautiful day out, as the day racegoers make a particular effort to look their best. As well as the prestigious Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes race, Day 3 of the festival features the all-women's charity race, The Markel Magnolia Cup.

Friday 2nd August - King George Day: the weekend begins with the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes, pitting the world’s top sprinters against one another in a race made famous by superstar Battaash, and the Thoroughbred Stakes make it a memorable way to start a long weekend.

Saturday 3rd August - Stewards' Cup Day: the Coral Stewards' Cup takes centre stage for the final day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, with more of an emphasis of socialising and revelry.

Dress Code

A collage of six images features people dressed in vibrant attire and fancy hats, likely at an outdoor event. Groups include women in colorful dresses and elaborate hats, and men in suits with hats. The setting appears festive with a bright, sunny ambiance.

In the 19th century King Edward VII relaxed the dress code for Goodwood so racegoers could enjoy the racing more comfortably in the Summer heat, so ‘the Goodwood look’ is about being relaxed but chic - think linen suits, Panama hats and chic dresses in a quintissentially English style.

There are, however, some rules that must be adhered to - you can read about the rules for specific enclosures here.

Hospitality

Goodwood offers an extensive range of hospitality experiences, including The Secret Garden and The Final Furlong which are exclusive to Goodwood. Private suites and boxes are available, all of which offer superb views of the race track or parade ring and include options for both formal and informal dining.
