Crewe//Makes 2025 featuring COLONY
Sat 22 – Sun 23 Feb 2025, 11am – 6pm
Various locations across Crewe Town Centre
FREE, Drop in, ALL AGES.

The first-of-its-kind FREE, family-friendly festival of making, Crewe//Makes 2025 is February’s must-attend event. Dotted around the town centre in unexpected, easy-to-find locations, including the Victoria Street Crewe//Makes ArtSpace, hands-on workshops take place for participants of ALL AGES. Starting at 11am, the fun continues until early evening.

Between 12pm and 6pm, visitors will encounter Colony, a captivating, immersive installation and performance featuring up to seven illuminated, giant air-filled spheres. Up to 3.5 metres in size, each emits a mesmerising, 20-minute sonic composition, turning sound into a physical experience, produced by Hogarth Productions. Touching is encouraged!

This is the biggest weekend of the year to learn new skills and create something new. In numerous nooks and crannies, as well as the Market Hall, Lyceum Square, Lyceum Theatre and Crewe Library, artists including robot-building specialist, Mark Haig of Gizmobots, are on hand to help the town’s residents and visitors bring their ideas to life.

As well as Colony and Gizmobots, printmaking, landscape painting, illustration, more digital art, 3D printing, the work of Crewe’s schools and colleges and a welcome gathering of the town’s community groups and charities makes for a weekend of sharing, learning and great fun.

Colony for Crewe//Makes is funded by Discover Crewe.
