Explore over 250 years of innovation and ideas in the gallery’s main buildings – the Power House, Aire and Space Hall and 1830 Station and Warehouse.   Journey through Manchester’s rich legacy of industrial innovations, scientific discoveries and ideas that started life in Manchester and went on to change the world. In the Power Hall, you’ll find one of the largest collections of working steam mill engines and learn about how fossil fuels keep industries moving today.

‘Experiment’ is fun and provides children of all ages a great opportunity to interact and explore science in action. They can build sturdy bridges, make music with their bodies and experiment Heat Vision with a thermal camera.   Older children can also experience the best video games from the past five decades, including Pacman, Mario to Minecraft, across hundreds of consoles in the Power Up building. You can book a single day pass for £8 or an annual pass for just £15.

The museum site is currently undergoing extensive renovation works but there’s still a lot open to keep everyone occupied. The ‘New’ Warehouse houses three permanent galleries - Revolution Manchester, the Textiles Gallery and Experiment - as well as two temporary exhibition spaces.

There’s also a packed roster of events and special exhibitions to enjoy in the surrounding buildings whilst the restoration work continues, including a visionary £4.3M de-carbonisation project – making this museum a leading sustainable museum of the future.

Entry is free and it’s open daily 10 – 5pm.
