Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Lightwaves Salford is a free light art festival presented by Quays Culture in Media City, with 14 awe-inspiring installations along a 2k trail
The Lightwaves Festival, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, transforms Salford Quays and Media City into a dazzling playground of light and creativity with 14 awe-inspiring illuminated artworks along a 2km accessible trail, offering an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. Highlights include Monad, a breathtaking water-screen projection accompanied by emotive music across the Piazza, and Decade of Light, a rainbow-hued column honouring a decade of community-focused art.
This year’s installations range from large-scale spectacles to intimate interactive displays, such as the playful I Caught a… and On the Wave of Light - created by a team all the way from Latvia. All exhibits are free to enjoy and aim to inspire reflection and connection through the power of art and light, continuing a legacy of enriching the community by Quays Culture.
