At Go See This we believe that the long summer days provide the perfect opportunity to try something new! We've scoured Manchester to find some exciting activities that will kick-start your creativity and get you in the mood to learn new skills. Whether you're looking to make friends, reawaken an old hobby or try your hand at something a little different, there's definitely something here for you.
If you love nothing more than the delightful sight of a bouquet in full bloom, this workshop from Manchester Craft & Design Centre is just the ticket. From 10am - 1pm on the 12th August, you can soak up a whole host of techniques with An Introduction to Floristry. This creative session will be hosted by Maybe May x Kin who will be teaching the class the industry's inside tips that will keep your florals fashionable.
Get stitching with French Knots Craft Studio. Jo runs a whole host of crafty events, but our top pick is her Rucksack workshop that will be taking place on the 13th September at 7.30pm. Follow simple steps to create a sturdy bag that will recap on your sewing skills and provide you with a trendy new accessory. The studio is based in Sale and is easily accessible by public transport.
Release your inner dancing queen at The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre in Chorlton. The venue offers weekly Movie Moves dance classes that are sure to set your pulse racing. Learn a new routine from a musical each week and dance to the choreography performed on screen by your favourite stars. The next course of classes will begin on the 5th September, so there's plenty of time to summon your inner John Travolta.
If a more relaxing pastime is better suited to your personality, head over to Z-arts and take part in Painting for Pleasure with the Independent Art School. Classes run on Tuesdays from 6pm - 9pm and are suited to beginners and those wishing to improve upon their technique. The tutors will equip you with the knowledge and tools that you need to develop your artistic style.
Seven Limes Pottery are running Taster Saturdays at their venue in Whalley Range. Learn to throw, make and decorate unique creations that are personal to you. The sessions provide you with an insight into various pottery techniques and give you a taste of the range of ceramic activities that you can enjoy. With dates in July, August and October, there's plenty of opportunity to get hands on with that clay!
Sing your heart out with SHE Choir. There's no need to audition, just bob on down to a Wednesday rehearsal at Pub/Zoo and join in. The choir encourages its members to be as involved as they desire with the arrangements and song choices, so feel free to be as enthusiastic as you like! SHE Choir is exclusively for anyone that identifies as being a woman, but if you're a gentleman looking to reach those high notes, The Sunday Boys have got you covered! Rehearsing every Sunday evening, The Sunday Boys will welcome you with open arms.
Of course, there's too many wonderful courses taking place in Greater Manchester to cover them all, but these are just a selection of the ones that have stood out to the Go See This team. If you're feeling brave and adventurous, step out of your comfort zone and give something a go!
