Theatre Peckham

Theatre Peckham, can be found between Camberwell and Peckham. It's a vibrant cultural hub with a rich history spanning over 35 years. Established in 1985, this award-winning venue has become synonymous with artistic excellence and social change. Founded on the principles of ambition, bravery, and inspiration, Theatre Peckham illuminates young voices, provides essential skills and opportunities, and amplifies underrepresented creatives on both local and international stages.

Originally situated on Havil Street, Theatre Peckham relocated to its current home within the former Southwark Town Hall in 2016, thanks to a redevelopment initiative led by Alumno Developments. This modern, multipurpose space features a 200-seat flexible studio theatre, equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, audiovisual infrastructure, and retractable seating to accommodate various performance formats.

The theatre's mission goes beyond mere entertainment; it serves as a catalyst for change, offering arts education and training to children and young people in the borough of Southwark. Through a comprehensive range of educational activities and a dynamic schedule of shows, Theatre Peckham nurtures the next generation of theatre lovers and practitioners, fostering a community of diverse voices and perspectives.

Supported by partnerships with organizations like Alumno Developments and Southwark Council, Theatre Peckham continues to evolve and innovate. Its unique folded extension, clad with iridescent tiles reminiscent of a theatre curtain, symbolizes the venue's commitment to creativity and inclusivity. The foyer, accessible from a public square at the rear of the building, serves as a welcoming space for the local community to engage with the arts.

From its humble beginnings to its current status as a cultural landmark in South London, Theatre Peckham remains dedicated to its core values of artistic excellence, community engagement, and social impact.
