When The Play That Goes Wrong play started at the Old Red Lion Theatre, the show opened to 60 theatregoers a night. Now, thousands of audience members enjoy Mischief’s trademark hijinks each week at the Duchess Theatre in the London's West End. It’s a beautiful blend of traditional British characters like Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes, all rolled into a farcical comedy for the ages.

Meet the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society — the real stars of The Play That Goes Wrong. They are in the middle of rehearsals for "Murder at Haversham Manor", a 1920s murder mystery. But, as the title suggests, it's not so easy for them as everything that can go wrong... does! See the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences! Do you ever find out who murdered Charles Haversham?
The play - Co-written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, and directed by Mark Bell is literally a farce on steroids, total mayhem. Its the classic whodunnit story and just when you think you’ve seen it all, it becomes even more crazy. It truly is pure genius, the perfect mix of farce and slap-stick humour, guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter.
The wonderfully talented cast are, Daniel Anthony as Dennis, Joe Bolland as Jonathan, Daniel Fraser as Chris, Owen Jenkins as Robert, Billie Hamer as Annie, Jordan Akkaya as Trevor, Jay Olpin as Max, and Hannah Sinclair Robinson as Sandra. who are all, as you would expect completely chaotic and ridiculously funny.
The Play That Goes Wrong really does embody everything that is right with British theatre. It celebrates our love for humour and satire, whilst bringing the audience together. Its the perfect slice of escapist comedy - here’s to the next ten years!
