The Greenwood Theatre has been in action since 1975, thanks to the generosity of Sir James Mantle Greenwood and the Charitable Foundation of Guy's Hospital. Located in King's College London, this establishment hosts a whirlwind of lectures by day and student productions by night, with a versatile schedule that extends into the realm of external client bookings.
Fully air-conditioned and boasting a raked auditorium with seating for 450the theatre has a fully equipped stage with sophisticated lighting and sound systems, alongside a single purchase counterweight flying system that adds a professional touch to every performance. Backstage, the theatre offers six dressing rooms, ranging from intimate 'principals' rooms to expansive 'warm-up' spaces, plus a make-up and wardrobe room to cater to the needs of any production.
The Greenwood Theatre underwent a remarkable transformation in March 2015, when it was reborn through a celebrity collaboration that brought together the flamboyant fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes and garden designer Joe Swift. This dynamic duo, along with Team London Bridge and other contributors, turned the theatre's facade and surrounding area into a stunning linear ‘pocket park’. The new design doesn’t just beautify the streetscape; it reduces flooding, provides inviting seating, and boosts biodiversity, making the theatre a more appealing destination for everyone.
