The Ambassadors Theatre opened on 5th June 1913. In 1921 the theatre presented the iconic Deburau, with Ivor Novello making his first ever stage appearance. The Ambassadors Theatre is one of the West End's smallest theatres, with a capacity of 446 across two levels. It was built alongside its sister venue, St. Martin's Theatre, by architect W.G.R. Sprague. For a brief period in the 1990s, the Ambassadors Theatre was split into two spaces, but its original design was restored in 1999. The building has been Grade II listed since March 1973.

The Ambassadors Theatre is primarily known to host small-scale plays, although many musicals have played there and it was the long-time host of Stomp from 2007-2018. The theatre was also the first home of the world's longest-running play The Mousetrap, from 1952 to 1974, before it moved to St. Martin's Theatre, where it still plays to this day. Other notable productions include The Mask of Virtue, which saw the West End debut of Vivien Leigh, the 2004 revival of Sweeney Todd and The Little Shop of Horrors. Now it is currently hosting The Curious Case of Benjamin Button based on the iconic short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The theatre is split into two levels that include the Stalls and the Circle, views from seating is good, with clear views of the stage from most rows. A slight Circle overhang kicks in at the back of the Stalls, but aside from this, the audience always feels close to the action with an unrestricted view. There are two small bars, located in the Stalls and the Circle, selling soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and small snacks.

The Ambassadors Theatre is located in the neighbourhood of Seven Dials, close to Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Chinatown with excellent transport links. The nearest tube stations to the theatre are Leicester Square(Northern and Piccadilly lines) and Covent Garden (Piccadilly line) stations, which are both within walking distance.
