Art app gowithYamo teams up with The White Pube for the return of “What I Saw Last Week” video series.

This April, gowithYamo - the free art app and social platform making the art world more accessible - is being joined by key culture critics, The White Pube. Known for their work democratising the art world, they will host a critical egg hunt alongside the return of much-beloved series “What I saw last week”.

Originally an ad-hoc series on The White Pube’s Instagram stories, “What I saw last week” saw one-half of the duo, Zarina Muhammad, reviewing exhibitions in person with no editing, no faff - just her initial raw thoughts and reactions to the artwork.

Every Monday throughout April, Zarina will be visiting exhibitions across London, and sharing her exhibition commentary in a new video series, to live on The White Pube and gowithYamo’s Instagram pages. Her reviews, in their original unedited format, will also be available to read via gowithYamo’s in-app review function. Her reviews will be scattered across the exhibition pages she visits in the app, allowing fans to discover while exploring gowithYamo’s map. App users can engage with Zarina’s reviews, share their own thoughts on the exhibitions, and spark in-app discussions about the works.

Both gowithYamo and The White Pube are on a mission to invite more people into the art world. With this new partnership, culture fans can discover new ways of viewing artworks from one of London’s best alternative voices, whilst budding art writers have the opportunity to follow Zarina’s trail and flex their critical writing skills.

Zarina Muhammad says about the partnership: “When you go to a new restaurant, watch a film, or finish a book, you discuss it with your friends, share your review on Letterboxd, and rate it on Goodreads. Our enjoyment and experience of culture is built collectively and convivially. So why should art critics have a monopoly on having opinions in the art world? gowithYamo offers up a space to talk about what we think of art on a level playing field. As an approach to art and exhibitions, it’s fairer, it’s more accessible — but also FUN, which is the most important bit.”
