Sage & Jester with Intelligence Squared launch a series of interactive events focussed around misinformation.

New arts production company Sage & Jester (who have recently launched STOREHOUSE) have announced a series of interactive and playful events focussed around misinformation, in partnership with Intelligence Squared. These three events, hosted by award-winning Sophia Smith Galer (BBC, VICE, i paper, The Guardian), will help audiences cut through the noise, build resilience and connect with community.

Misinformation isn’t just a buzzword for daytime TV debates; it’s a weapon with real power that can distort reality, spread confusion and erode trust in democracy.  From deepfake videos twisting elections to bot armies flooding social media with lies, the manipulation of truth is everywhere. With its signature blend of wisdom and wit, Sage & Jester aims to entertain, enlighten, and empower audiences, helping them navigate the complexities of our information age.

On 13th May, Tricks, Trolls, and LOLs: Comedy’s Crash Course in Spotting Lies featuring BAFTA-nominated comedian Rachel Parris (Late Night Mash) will explore how humour and creative expression can serve as a counterbalance to misinformation.  Comedy has long been a way to bring difficult conversations to the fore and to challenge narratives and sometimes the best way to expose a lie is to laugh at it.

Truth Hurts: From Conflict to Connection on 19th May will feature Dr Julia Ebner and will tackle the most divisive topics in our day-to-day lives and how we can all become better conversationalists.  Conversations can easily escalate when everyone is consuming different media with wildly different messaging. The conversation will dive into clever strategies for critical thinking and teach you how to dodge sneaky traps.

And, on 20th May, join Sage & Jester and Intelligence Squared for How To Cure Your Algorithm featuring author and journalist Jamie Bartlett. This talk dives headfirst into the pressing issue of digital manipulation and how you can reclaim your digital narrative. Be at the forefront of this vital conversation - help shape the future of online discourse and empower individuals to take control of their own digital truth.
