Two unsung darlings of the alternative dance scene take to stage together at the beloved, intimate Village Underground, providing something special between a gig and a nightclub experience.
Transcending dance music, incorporating jazz, pop, blues, and lo-fi, Romare's unique brand of dance music has made international waves. You might even recognise 'All Night' from an advert or two.
On the back of 2024s acclaimed ‘Here Comes the Night’ EP, the French dance extraordinaire continually seeks to push new boundaries, in his recorded music and in his sets, where he sometimes treats fans to a live set. His We Out Here 2023 set was a huge Culture Calling highlight, performing a continuous mix of his classic tunes, but with live instruments, including one excellent sax solo over ‘All Night’.
Bringing along some new blood, Jitwam, who with him brings his own powerful, genreless sound, full of attitude and discomforting emotions. Soul, disco, hip-hop, neo-soul, Jitwam is as defined by his genre-blending as Romare, who alternates between exciting a dancefloor and filling a smokey lounge. Myrton, also featured on the line-up, is standing out by bringing a live set to a night full of DJ sets, completing the night.
Together, we anticipate each artist to bring the best out of the other. Both have dance as their core sound, but reach far for their influences. We look forward to their selections at one of our favourite venues, Shoreditch's Village Underground, a gloriously intimate, industrial affair, powered by some of the best speakers in the capital.
