Lost Dog return to Battersea Arts Centre with their iconic staging of Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost.

There is a possibility that God made everything because he was terrified of doing nothing.

10 years on from its first premiere, Lost Dog return to Battersea Arts Centre this March with their staging of Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost. Written by Lost Dog’s award-winning Artistic Director Ben Duke and co-directed by Ben with Associate Director to the Royal Court Lucy Morrison, Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me) is an often witty, sometimes acerbic, always observational journey through the story of the creation of everything condensed into 75 minutes. It’s a show for anyone who has ever created anything (a child, a garden, a paper aeroplane) and then had to watch that wonderful thing spiral out of control.

Ben Duke performed the show for the first time in 2015 at Battersea Arts Centre and over the next few years, performed it all over the UK to the delight of audiences and critics, winning a clutch of awards along the way.

Fast forward ten years and actor Sharif Afifi has taken over from Ben as the star of this new production. Sharif Afifi’s theatre credits include The Band’s Visit (Donmar Warehouse) which earned him the 2023 Olivier Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, My Fair Lady (London Coliseum 2022) and Hadestown (National Theatre 2018).
