Founder of the iconic Numero Group label - one of the chief rereleases of our time - brings their bag of seven inch to the basement on Little Portland Stree.t
The minds behind some of the current millennia's most important rereleases, cratedigging label Numero Group have brought a litany of artists from obscurity to fame. Trawling through the back catalogs of defunct labels, record shops, white labels, and people's living rooms, you will continually be scratching your head wondering how exactly Numero find all these quality records, let alone all these records at all.
Doing the hard work so we don't have to, Numero often generate compilations along a theme or a time period or an area, like last year's fantastic Cosmic American Music: Motel California which trawled the post-Eagles suburb rock era of American music, or of a particular artist, like this superb compilation from Charles Megira. All in all, there is almost nothing on there that isn't worth a wee exploration.
So how lucky are we, that in mid February the Numero founder and former A&R Manager Rob Sevier comes down to Little Portland Street to show off some of his prized wax. A bag of original 45s, straight from the Numero vaults, making use of The Social's iconic basement woofers. Rare groove, bouncy soul, disco unbeknownst to all - expect everything.
If, for you, discovering music is almost as fun as listening to it, this is exactly where you wanna be. You're welcome!
