Crate-digger and DJ renaissance man Luke Una takes over KOKO for an all-day jamboree of worldly delights.
Luke Una may just be the best DJ you've never heard of. He has taken tracks from almost complete obscurity into modern dancefloor classics, and, in the spirit of Gilles Peterson, takes great influence from abroad, and in how obscure foreign music can be converted to the club.
Now, he brings his É Soul Cultura series to the grand hall of KOKO for a daytime affair. When his influences draw from Latin, Brazilian, African, and Mediterranean, it only feels right that this is a daytime party, suiting the carnival vibes.
For a taste of what's to come, you can find Una's É Soul Cultura mixes on streaming services, although these are more compilations of obscure finds rather than club mixes. However, it should give you an idea of the range of taste the man has, and how willing he is to juxtapose seemingly disparate styles.
