Sharp and thought-provoking, exploring the complexities of morality and fame.
The Tower Theatre Company is delighted to present Hangmen, the brilliant dark comedy by Martin McDonagh, Wednesday 12 February - Saturday 22 February 2025.
I’m just as good as bloody Pierrepoint…
Harry Wade, the second-best hangman in Britain, navigates life in his small pub in Oldham, relishing the attention of curb reporters and sycophantic pub regulars alike in 1960s England. But what’s the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging? When a mysterious stranger enters, Harry’s sense of security is shattered, forcing him to confront unsettling truths about his profession and the nature of justice.
Sharp and thought-provoking, Hangmen explores the complexities of morality and fame. Premiering at the Royal Court Theatre in 2015, it quickly garnered critical acclaim, winning the Olivier Award for Best New Play. McDonagh’s incisive dialogue and compelling characters make this a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary theatre.
