The notoriously haunted, former royal residence comes alive (or dead) for the Halloween season, with its decorative Tudor style tending well to being scared out your mind.
Over half-term, Hampton Court Palace is probably the spookiest spot in London to immerse yourself in. Hundreds of years worth of spirits floating around the place, who died of God knows what, and don't forget all the skeletons in Henry VIII's closet. They'll be giving you a fright to.
Ordinarily, a solo walk through an empty Hampton Court Palace would be enough to make a grown-up turn white, but they have seen fit to make it scarier, for your inconvenience.
Hear some creepy ghost stories including Boo and the Grey Lady of Hampton Court Palace from some expert storytellers. Work with ghost hunters to track down the bothersome apparitions. Meet some beasts in the Magic Garden. There are even Halloween talks in the lead up to half-term.
But of course, the main attraction is simply walking through the Palace, enjoying the series of illuminations and light-shows they throughout the building, getting put further and further on edge as you venture further through hallways laden with foreboding.
Of course, this is a family friendly event, so the aim is to be put on edge rather than pushed over it. That said, children must stay with adults at all times, in case they get spooked and run off! Then the fake scares will turn into real scares.
Remember to pre-book to avoid disappointment. The Halloween events are included in the price of the ticket and members go free.
