Watch your favourite movies supported by a live classical orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall! Running through Christmas into next year, the series provides classical fun for all the family.
The highly rated Films in Concert series continues at the Royal Albert Hall, with a good range of films that appeal to elders, kids, and everyone in between. The acclaimed Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra faithfully reproduce some of the most iconic film soundtracks of our time on the big stage.
And the best part, it doubles as a film screening! There are few better ways to get your kids engaged into classical music than this popular series.
Here are the upcoming events within the series:
Friday 27th September: Top Gun: Maverick
Saturday 26th October: Ghostbusters (the original of course)
Sunday 27th October: Avatar
1 - 3rd November: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ Part 2
7th December: Home Alone
26th April 2025: Gladiator
Some of these are rather special. Lorne Balfe conducts the orchestra through the soundtrack which he himself helped to compose in Top Gun: Maverick. The Ghostbusters event begins with a talk from the son of the composer of the soundtrack. For the Avatar night, the Concert Orchestra is joined by the National Youth Choir, and the Harry Potter night sees collaboration from the English Chamber Choir.
Much more than just cash-ins for film nuts, these events are specially curated love-letters to film, music, and music in film. And to see these huge films on the massive screen at the Royal Albert Hall may just be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
