The Lafayette is promising not just the biggest disco, funk, and soul night to be found in London on NYE, but one of the biggest of such events this year in the capital's busy calendar. Why so? Well, Dmitri From Paris, known for his eclectic and enlivening sets that sway from world beat to funk to disco to house, is joining Culture Calling favourite Cody Currie to bring you the jams going into 2025.
We all love a bit of disco, and Cody Currie is doing the Lord's work, reworking disco, reinterpreting its flair into new forms, making it easily blendable with house, funk, and soul, in many ways taking it back to its soulful roots in America's 70s funk scene. Every show Currie has hosted this year has been a joyous occasion, the embodiment of “one nation under a groove”.
And it gets better. Accompanying these two modern icons are Bill Brewster, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, and Poly-Ritmo. Indeed, this is more of a mini-festival than a New Years. Bring your most worn out shoes and expect a steppage. It's about to get real funky real soon.
