The multi-cultured dreamboat live series is back in London, bringing modern UK audiences close to the 70s club scene in Tehran for a vibrant night of musical excellence and education.
We're ecstatic to announce the return of Disco Tehran to London. After they shelled it down at Jazz Cafe earlier in the year, they saw fit to take it to a more clubby vibe at Hackney Wick's famous Colour Factory, increasing the vibrations and taking it to the wee small hours.
Their selected sounds include club music from the golden age of Tehran's music scene, but also include a wide variety of Middle Eastern music, from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and well into the Maghreb. But they don't stop there, as they musically venture out to include music from Latin America, Africa, and Europe. All united under a groove, Disco Tehran will prove as always that what stands out musically across cultures only stands out because so much else is alike.
Some household throwbacks are to be expected, but attend expecting to learn a thing or two about a thing or two, to immersive yourself in a musical culture you once thought was so distant it would be unrecognisable. But it just aint so, as dance music makes people dance everywhere. No place will that be clearer than at Colour Factory on the 6th of September.
