Bring your scariest masks (compulsory) to the Windrush Bar for an exhilarating night of Afrohouse, Amapiano, and other such African dance music at this unconventional yet sophisticated Hallow's eve.
Something of a new iteration in the Halloween club circuit, Connoisseurs Of House are providing an Afrohouse and Amapiano Halloween party, which, while perhaps not high on the spooky end of club music, is infinitely danceable and will keep you going all night.
For those who don't know, Amapiano is one of the newer inventions in dance music. Developing from South African kwaito music, itself an off-shoot of house, Amapiano combines kwaito with dancehall, Afrobeat, and UK dance genres to create an exciting mix of African and European influences, mesmerising, trancelike, minimal, yet full of life. It has become one of the biggest sounds in London's current dance scene.
The party has fancy dress as optional (but encouraged), but the unwavering rule is you must wear a must. No if's, no buts. Got to be one of the easiest costumes to pull off as well so no excuse really. Even a mask of your own face would do.
Self-described as an event for the ‘sophisticated raver’, the combination of exciting dance music, spookily-masked patrons, and live percussion from Dezy B makes this one of the bigger and better events of the packed Halloween weekend.
