Future Ritual presents a 5-day festival of performance art, choreography and ritual action.
Future Ritual presents CEREMONY: A Festival of Performance, a new 5-day festival taking place this April 23-27 at Peckham’s Copeland Gallery in South-East London. CEREMONY: A Festival of Performance concludes a year-long series of performances, exhibitions, artist labs and workshops exploring performance as a form of collective gathering amidst the fragmentation of contemporary life.
Celebrated performance artists taking part include amongst others, Anne Bean, who won a Hamlyn Foundation award in 2024, Alastair MacLennan, Gustaf Broms from Sweden, a painter and photographer at one time who burned all of his work and now lives deep in the Swedish forest making mainly performance, Berlin’s Liz Rosenfeld, Marilyn Arsen from the US and emilyn claid, who like Alastair, Marilyn and Anne has been making work since the 1960s and 70s. Her newly commissioned live art ballet The Trembling Forest is created alongside prolific British performance artist Martin O’Brien who showed work at the Whitechapel throughout 2023 plus a host of young, queer performers who will create a human forest covered in clay at the Copeland.
Full April schedule see website HERE.
Alongside these performances there will be two intensive artist development workshops: Arcane Portals with VestAndPage and On Practice with Marilyn Arsem.
