PLANETARIUM SHOWS

Chinese Astronomy: 12 April 2025

Join in on a journey through space and time to explore the ancient history of Chinese astronomy. You will travel to nearby celestial bodies like the Sun and Moon. You will learn how Chinese astronomers have looked up at the night sky for thousands of years and the amazing feats of exploration being made by modern day Chinese space missions. Your guide for this fantastic voyage will be an astronomer from the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Tickets also include visit to the historical Observatory and the Meridian Line.

Astronomy & Islam: Introduction :  26 April 2025

Learn about the important links between astronomy and Islam at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. This planetarium show will teach you how to spot the next New Crescent Moon, how Arabic astronomers helped lay the foundation of modern astronomy, and the different tales of Arabic constellations. Tickets also include a visit to the historical Observatory and the Meridian Line.

Audio Universe: Weekends and holidays

Prepare to be transported inside a special spacecraft to the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) to view the stars in the night sky, before lifting off into space to visit the Earth, Moon, Sun and all the planets of the Solar System.

A new display at the Peter Harrison Planetarium celebrates Earth’s outstanding natural beauty and creates a vibrant colour-scape centred around our planet through astrophotography, audio-visual and interactive elements. It draws attention to a wide range of Earth observation missions and their vital role in tackling climate change and
