Abseiling lesbians! Queers in the classroom! And an act of oppression that inspired a generational riot.
After the Act is a 1980s-inspired musical about pride, protest... and abseiling lesbians, looking at the wide-reaching impact of Thatcher’s Section 28, a law that banned the ‘promotion’ of homosexuality in schools.
From multi-award-winning Breach Theatre, After the Act spotlights the inspiring true stories of teachers, students and activists protesting, grappling with, and impacted by the law. Using interviews, newspaper articles and 80s synth music to unpack a defining moment in LGBTQ+ history.
