Spend Halloween night listening to some top-notch, legacy indie-rock and dreampop (a term they themselves coined), provided by one of the UK's most influential - yet underrated - acts: A. R. Kane.
Trailblazers in their day, and still noteworthy over 30 years later, as they stand out and shine in a still-white dominated genre. Not that that ever stopped them from producing some of the genres best work. ‘Crazy Blue’ soared in the 80s, and laid much groundwork for experimentally-oriented indie, shoegaze, dreampop, and alt-rock artists in the, 90s, 2000s and 10s who were far less imaginative than them.
Sadly, they never really got the recognition they deserved, but its picking up for them again. Their top tracks on Spotify continue to stack up listens, and, this Halloween, they come through with a special Halloween performance, befitting their somewhat dark, mystical aesthetic.
They'll be joined on the night by DJ Haram, triage, Sydenham High Road, and Mimiko for an Atomiser-organised Halloween special. There is no strict dress code, beyond a foreboding instruction that simply says ‘Dress up.' Do with that what you will.
