26 July 2024 The Fox and Firkin

A vibrant event poster features a side profile of a man's face against a purple background. Bold text announces A Guy Called Gerald and The Jungle Drummer performing on Friday, 26th July from 21:00 to 03:00 at Fox & Firkin. The text colors are green and white.

An 808 State founding member and acclaimed, multi-discipline drummer go back-to-back for an exhilarating evening at one of London's best small venues.

Few match the impact that A Guy Called Gerald has left on the UK underground scene. Big in the acid house scene, with his tune 'Voodoo Ray' becoming a dance standard, and his work with 808 State that saw the era-defining 'Pacific State', it was his trailblaizing style that influenced the sound of jungle, marking his print on the shape of things to come.

The Jungle Drummer, having performed for Shy FX and London Electricity, turns drum and bass into analogue, moving at a dizzying pace while you wonder how you'll keep up with him. The power of his drumkit, combined with the DJ work of A Guy Called Gerald, will no doubt be a joyful celebration of everything good in UK dance music.

And what better space for them to come together than the Fox and Firkin? Already hosting Norman Jay OBE and Craig Charles this summer, they can now bolster their posters with two more big names in UK dance music. As opposed to the aforementioned two, this event will be held in their indoor venue space, a pub atmosphere with gig-like capacity. Truly, it's all kicking off in Lewisham this summer.
