Gunnersbury Park spans 186 acres and is a significant cultural and recreational hub in west London with a mix of formal gardens, open fields, and woodland areas. The park features the stunning Gunnersbury Park Mansion - once the home of the famous Rothschild banking family - and the Gunnersbury Park Museum, which explores the local history and heritage of the area; there are 450 objects on display through 9 exhibition galleries set across 3 floor, exploring themes including local sports and media, toys and games and heritage. History buffs will enjoy roaming the Rosthschild Rooms and the historic Victorian Kitchens.
There are several sculptures dotted around the park, and at its centre sits 72 acres of Grade II-listed heritage parkland. Families also enjoy Putt in the Park and the Playground at Gunnersbury Park, which has a variety of play structures and a splash pad for warm day, or sitting by the park’s two ponds.
The Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub is a large complex with great indoor facilities for badminton, handball, futsal, basketball, netball and volleyball for competition-level players as well as customers. Outside in the park proper there are scenic paths for runners and dedicated areas for playing rugby, tennis cricket and football.
Note: while the park itself is open from 7am until dusk the museum, shop and historic kitchens are open between Tuesday and Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm.
