Battersea Park

Seekers of peace and serenity can while away the time in the shadow of the towering Japanese Peace Pagoda (pictured), an impressive structure with four gilded bronze Buddha statues looking out across the park. Within the park there are three gardens perfect for quiet and contemplative strolls; the enchanting Old English Garden, the Russell Page Garden - with an impressive promenade and water features - and the first Sub-Tropical Garden to be built in England. The Pear Tree Café and the Battersea Park Pavilion offer refreshments, as do assorted kiosks.

Visitors can also rent bikes to ride through the park or pedaloes to venture out on the large Boating Lake, and you will always find joggers on the many paths winding through Battersea Park, or on the straight pavement that offers gorgeous views as it lines the south bank of the River Thames. Battersea Park is well-equipped with sports facilities and amenities, including several football pitches, tennis courts, a running track, outdoor gym The Trim Trail and rowing on the Boating Lake. This is a particularly enticing park for children, though; adventure seekers can pay to climb, jump and swing through the Go Ape Treetop Adventure at the south-west corner of the park. Alternatively, animal fans will definitely enjoy the Battersea Park Children's Zoo, and families love the mini-golf adventure Putt in the Park.

Events space Evolution London hosts several cultural and social events throughout the year, including the popular Spring and Autumn editions of The Affordable Art Fair.
