ABOE

First Table via ABOE

Located just across the road from Clifton Down station, ABOE—short for "A Bit of Everything"—offers a culinary experience that's as eclectic as its name suggests. With green interiors, an inviting indoor mezzanine, and a hidden outdoor garden perfect for al fresco dining, ABOE sets the stage for a meal that's both delightful and diverse.

Mastermind Chef Sebastian Merry, whom you might recognise from MasterChef: The Professionals, helms the kitchen. Trained in classic French cooking and having worked in Michelin-starred restaurants across London and France, Merry brings a fusion flair to ABOE's contemporary menu. Drawing from the freshest local produce of the Southwest, Merry's dishes are a global journey on a plate.

Start your culinary adventure with snacks like Jersey oysters with chicharron, blood orange, and jalapeno, or the decadent cheese doughnuts with mornay sauce, caviar, and shallot. The sharing plates steal the show, offering a variety of vegetarian and plant-based options such as a winter salad featuring kohlrabi, kale, blood orange, and truffle. The highly recommended 'French Dip' boasts smoked sourdough, rare roast beef, horseradish, French onion soup, and nori. Seafood lovers can dive into dishes like halibut with miso, hazelnut pesto, and Jerusalem artichoke.

By day, it transforms into a gourmet sandwich haven, serving up stacked sammies that redefine lunchtime. Sundays are special too, with a roast menu featuring mains like umami short rib and ponzu-glazed duck breast, complete with all the classic trimmings. And if you’re lucky, live music in the garden might just be the cherry on top.

With price points that cater to both casual lunches and indulgent dinners, ABOE ensures there’s something for everyone.
