Top 5 Vegetarian Restaurants in Bristol

3 August 2016 |

We’ve been tasked with the un-task-able! Of all the delicious vegetarian and vegan-friendly eateries in Bristol, choosing just 5 has been a rather difficult endeavor. You’ll understand how we feel when you start exploring for yourself. Why not save some time and try one of our top picks instead?

Maitreya Social - for the artsy and adventurous

If you’re looking for somewhere warm and inviting to take in Bristol’s local art scene, look no further than Maitreya Social. As well as being one of the most written-about vegetarian restaurants in Bristol, it’s also an arts space - hosting live music nights, performances and exhibitions. Enjoy some culture whilst feasting on adventurous food-creations on offer at Maitreya Social.

Maitreya Social is at 89 St Mark’s Road and is closed on Mondays. Booking ahead is advised.

Soukitchen – for the Mediterranean lovers

Soukitchen holds the title for Best Mediterranean Restaurant in Bristol with a vast selection of dishes from across the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East - is a great spot if you have friends who refuse to try veggie. It has a fantastic vegetarian menu including Turkish beans on toast, shakshouka and traditional Lebanese Muhallabia.

Soukitchen is located in Clifton and Southville and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, complete with a brunch menu.

Spotless Leopard - for the street foodies

Even if you don’t manage to score a ticket to one of their pop-up vegan cream tea events, you can still trust Spotless Leopard to fill you up with goodness. They’re big on ethical with bio-degradable containers and a 5p discount for anyone who brings their own. Sourcing local, organic and healthy produce, this simple Clifton van sticks to its straightforward mission: to be fresh, simple and ethical.

Spotless Leopard is on Alma Road, Clifton, near Sainsbury’s car park. It’s open from Tuesday to Saturday and is available for private events.

Thali Cafe - for the authentic fanatics

The word “Thali” refers to the way in which meals are eaten in India – healthy, delicious and nutritious foods served together on one stainless steel plate. Fuelled by Indian travels, award-winning Thali Cafe’s commitment to delivering the highest quality Indian cuisine grew and evolved as quickly as the cafe itself. It started as a food truck at Glastonbury Music Festival 15 years ago, serving just one Northern Thali dish and has since spread across Bristol like wildfire, adopting the sustainable and eco-friendly Tiffin Takeaway Scheme used in India.

Thali Café is open 7 days a week and is located in Clifton, Easton, Montpelier, Southville and Totterdown.

Roll For The Soul – for the pedal pushers

With a fully equipped bike workshop upstairs, it’s a great place to enjoy a bite whilst your bike gets a much needed service. Whether you’re after a Middle Eastern khobez-wrapped falafel, a mezze platter or their famous Soul Burger (served with double-fried chips and vegan mayo), you’ll be sure to be full to the brim when you leave.

Roll For The Soul is at 2 Quay Street and is open from Monday to Saturday.
