Zhivago Theater at the Brighton Fringe

Zhivago Theater at the Brighton Fringe

A haunting performance sheds light on Russia's turbulent history at the Brighton Fringe.

27 May 2017 –  28 May 2017 | Visit website

A breathtaking theatre show that offers a window to the soul of Russia’s turbulent past. It's the time of revolution, Zhivago, and censored art. Zhivago Theater will be coming to the Brighton Fringe at the end of May.

A time when Russia has two faces: Pasternak and Stalin. Both are a benchmark of that specific period. One is humane, the other cruel. One is spiritual and sensible and the other is suspicious and jealous. Two opposites, two extremes; as contradictory as the time they lived in.

Live music written and performed by award-winning musicians Irena Filippova and Hans Visser will be accompanied by unique footage and images from Russia. “Never, under any circumstances should one despair! In times of difficulty it is our duty to hope and act.” (Boris Pasternak)

Zhivago Theater will be on from 27 - 28 May at Brighton College, Montague Studio as part of the Brighton Fringe. See the Fringe events listings for more information.
